Mr. Keene has established a distinguished and multifaceted career, marked by leadership in health, safety and environmental management, military service and community engagement. He currently serves as the health, safety and environmental manager at SPI/Mobile Pulley Works, Inc., a position he has held since 2024. In this capacity, he is responsible for ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, reviewing and evaluating existing protocols for clarity and effectiveness and monitoring employee behavior to prevent unsafe practices. He has played a pivotal role in building a strong safety culture following a company buyout; his efforts have focused on building trust across departments, changing organizational culture to prioritize safety and continuous improvement and encouraging staff to critically assess existing practices for safer, more efficient alternatives.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Keene worked as a general agent with the Liberty National Division of Clint McLain Agencies at Globe Life in 2024. In this position, he provided insurance solutions tailored to client needs while leveraging his expertise in risk management. From 2022 to 2024, he served as a supervisory benefits consultant at Globe Life, where he guided clients through complex benefits options and supported their long-term financial security. In 2022, he was a retail sales supervisor at Lowe’s Companies Inc., overseeing daily operations and ensuring customer satisfaction. He also held the role of safety and loss prevention manager at Lowe’s from 2021 to 2022.
From 2018 to 2022, Mr. Keene contributed his expertise as a security expert with Russell Kolins Associates, providing consulting services in hospitality and risk management for diverse clients. His tenure at TMS International was particularly impactful. As environment, health and safety manager from 2019 to 2021, he oversaw health and safety operations for approximately 250 employees in a heavy industrial setting supporting SSAB Steel. One of his most significant achievements occurred during this period when he intervened after a worker suffered a serious injury involving hydraulic fluid injection to the face and eyes. Despite the worker’s reluctance to seek medical attention, Mr. Keene insisted on immediate care—a decision that ultimately preserved the worker’s eyesight.
Mr. Keene’s professional foundation was built over two decades of service in the United States Army during which time he was deployed to Kosovo, Djibouti, Iraq and Afghanistan. From 2017 to 2018, he was an instructor responsible for training personnel in essential skills. As operations/training manager from 2015 to 2017, he coordinated large-scale training initiatives and operational planning. Between 2012 and 2014, he served as an Army recruiter in Peachtree City, Georgia, helping shape the next generation of military personnel. His earlier roles included security manager from 2010 to 2012 and military police investigations supervisor from 2004 to 2009—positions that honed his expertise in security protocols and investigative procedures.
Mr. Keene’s academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in multi-/interdisciplinary studies from the University of Arkansas Grantham in Little Rock earned in 2018. His education has provided a broad foundation for problem-solving across multiple disciplines, an asset reflected throughout his varied career. He has also maintained active membership in industry-related organizations such as the Military Police Regimental Association and the Order of Inca.
Mr. Keene holds several professional certifications, including OSHA forklift trainer; insurance agent for Alabama, Florida and Mississippi; master resilience trainer from the University of Pennsylvania; non-lethal weapons instructor through the United States Marine Corps; and United States customs inspector (excepted) with United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement, among others.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Keene is deeply involved in civic activities and youth development initiatives. Since 2022, he has volunteered with the National Youth Theater Experience in Louisville, Kentucky. He has contributed as a builder at the Azalea City Center for the Arts since 2019 and serves as a volunteer instructor teaching power tools use and construction project planning at local high schools. His prior service includes volunteering as a ranger with Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta from 2012 to 2015, participating on the safety team at Severns Valley Baptist Church and assisting with maintenance at Harmony Baptist Church.
His contributions have been recognized with honors such as the 25 Super Show Award from Sunny Side Theater. Mr. Keene attributes much of his success to integrity—following through on commitments with honesty and transparency—which has earned him trust among colleagues and those under his supervision.
In his personal life, Mr. Keene is a devoted father of three daughters and cherishes time spent with family. Looking ahead, he aims to expand his influence in the field by leveraging his leadership expertise through mentoring initiatives that reach broader audiences.
