Type “RG-L-ALR” was developed for the demanding conditions of offshore work, and particular attention was given to the assembly problems of previous units. The gland is retained in position at the ball center line, eliminating most gland positioning problems and making this unit an excellent choice for use on semi-submerged pipelines. • The five lug locking system of this unit affords maximum sfrength with generous clearance for assembly, and the new sloped claw shape guides the ball to its assembled position. The unique crown shaped gland is the result of stress testing the unit at elevated pressures while at the same time imposing extreme external bending loads. • Swivel is 20° in any direction from the centerline. • Grease groove and multiple pressure fittings are standard. • This unit was developed especially for the extreme conditions found during the construction of ports in the Middle East.

Type “A” is our standard weld-on unit using the throw bolt type connection. The carbon steel forged throw bolt assembly includes a rigid plate washer, heavy hex nut, round head rivet pin and brass cotters. This ball joint is designed for applications where average loading is encountered. • Swivel is 17½ 0 in any direction from the centerline.

Type “AS” is the same standard unit with the addition of thru bolts at the gland/case joint for added strength. The thru bolts (storm bolts) are used when . above average loading is anticipated. • Sealing in all units is guaranteed by our lip type gasket molded from a special rubber compound. • Swivel is 17½ 0 in any direction from the centerline.

Type “ALR” is our standard locking-ring connection. This design eliminates costly bolt maintenance and is very popular because of its added strength and fast assembly. It can be used where above average loading is encountered. • A special quick lock pin assembly retains the locking-ring gland in the assembled position. This unique pin, with a handle at one end, is tapered on the other to assist in assembly. A quick acting spring latch keeps the pin in place. • Swivel is 17½ 0 in any direction from the centerline. • Grease groove and pressure fittings are optional.

Our Type “LD”, light duty, unit is a locking-ring design that should be used only in protected areas where light loading will be encountered. It is light weight and economical, yet strong, and gives the same outstanding service expected from all Mobile Pulley ball joints. • Swivel is 15 ° in any direction from the centerline.

Type “HD” is Mobile Pulley’s heavy duty unit, and is designed to meet the most extreme conditions of off-shore dredging. Extra large locking lugs and claws with generous metal sections in the gland and upper case insure troublefree service under the most extreme wave and current conditions. • A grease groove, with mulitple countersunk pressure fittings, is furnished to insure that lubrication is easily accessible. • Swivel is 15 ° in any direction from the centerline.

Our “HC” option uses hard coat weld overlay on the interior wear surfaces of the ball and case to greatly extend the service life of our standard ball joint assemblies. • Using an automated fast weld process with a staggered 3-pass pattern, a smooth flow path is maintained thru the ball joint while concentrating the hard surface material in areas of maximum wear. This weld overlay, which has a hardness in excess of 450 BHN, is applied to the rough casting before machining, eliminating any possible distortion of the finished dimensions. • “HC” means longer life at a very small extra charge. • A choice of several hard coat materials is available.

Type “L-AS” is a throw bolt type connection using an internal liner to give full protection from abrasive slurry. The pipe extends thru the ball, preventing wear while directing the flow against the hardened steel case liner. This renewable conical shaped alloy casting is heat treated to a hardness of 300/350 BHN and can be easily replaced without removing the case from its pipe. • Swivel is 15 ° in any direction from the centerline. • Lubrictaion is through pressure fittings into a gland distribution groove.

Type “L-ALR” is a locking-ring connection having a fully protected interior for extremely abrasive conditions. The locking-ring eliminates bolt maintenance and, with the interior liners, the unit has an exceptionally long service life. The pipe fully protects the ball while the case liner covers the entire area subjected to abrasive wear from the slurry flow. Positive lubrication is thru countersunk pressure fittings into the gland groove. Generous metal sections make this type suitable for most dredging applications. • Swivel is 15 ° in any direction from centerline.

Type “L-ALR-HD” is designed for off-shore service where the most demanding conditions are found. Extreme abrasion and high forces are common in this application, requiring the very best ball joint assembly. • This locking-ring connection, with a fully protected interior, has extra heavy metal sections in the gland and locking mechanisms. It has earned the reputation of being the best in the industry. • Lubrication is through multiple pressure fittings into the gland distribution groove. • Swivel is 15 ° in any direction from the centerline.

The MO-SLIP gland liner can be added to any Mobile Pulley ball joint. This unique option reduces the frictional swivel forces by over 68% and almost eliminates the external wear on the ball. Lubrication is less critical since a dry lubricant is made an intregal part of the liner material. This allows grease to be applied when convenient. • This molded single piece liner is exceptionally useful on submerged units and invaluable in discharge lines operating with extremely high pressures. • Grease groove and multiple pressure fittings are standard.

The high-gland option is a special modification of our heavy duty units increasing the gland cross sectional thickness for added strength and increased bearing area. The high gland restricts the swivel to 8° maximum. • This ball joint is excellent for use in stern swivel assemblies where reduced swivel is desirable. It has also given excellent service when used as a flexible connection between a dredge and an idler barge. When used as a barge connector, we recommend that the assembly be sealed at the ends and kept pressurized hydrostatically. • Lubrication is through multiple pressure fittings into dual grease grooves.
